The listing, Antique Sewing Needle Case W Woodfield & Sons Redditch England Late 1800's has ended.
LOTS OF PICTURES!! This incredible 4 way opening needle case sewing notion also features antique black & white photo prints of 2 special landmarks, The Ponce de Leon in St Augustine Florida and The Grant Monument in New York.
The needle case opens from the center twice as you can figure out from the pictures. Inside the edges of each "page" is gold/gilt in flowers & leaves. The needles, about 1/2 rusty, are on red velvet fabric and feature tapestry, straws, Crewel, Betweens, Darners & Chenilles. One circular needle is present. Two of the inner red velvet pieces are ribbon-ed in leather. Another side features "superfines" in sizes 6, 7, 8 & 5/9. The 4th side is empty.. The cover is a leather covered board in a darn burgundy brown. The cover saying "NEEDLES" is gold as well as the edge as shown. This print is in excellent condition as in the inner gold. Very ornate and well preserved. Like a few of my items, this came in an OLD sewing cabinet. Closed it measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches. Open totally measures 4-1/2 x near 14 inches. There is very little wear to this piece.
