d. In accordance with chapter 45, section 771, title 10, United States Code (10 USC 771), no person except a member of the U.S. Army may wear the uniform, or a distinctive part of the uniform of the U.S. Army unless otherwise authorized by law. Additionally, no person except a member of the U.S. Army may wear a uniform, any part of which is similar to a distinctive part of the U.S. Army uniform. This includes the distinctive uniforms and uniform items listed in paragraph 1–12 of this regulation. Paragraph 1–12 goes on to define "Distinctive uniforms and uniform items:" But im sure you know this already....
I do believe neither Army Regulation nor UCMJ have jurisdiction over civilians except in very special cases. There are laws against impersonation... so simply pull off branch and ranks.
If it was illegal to wear an ACU while not in the Army, I would have been in jail a whole ago. I have a full ACU with my name, the branch, two NY Guard patches, and a flag. My recruiters told me as long as I DO NOT have a rank, I can wear it and everything else I have on it.
Rafferetyguskiewics, I know what your saying but it isn't against the law to sell this, go anywhere, a surplus army store, eBay etc, you will find thousands of these, it's not against the law to sell these, but is against the law to impersonate . .
Actually using I am a combat veteran is no excuse to auction off your uniform if that was the case. "as a Afghanistan Veteran, I know from personal experience what happens when my uniform or any us military uniform which i wore with pride as did you, gets into the wrong hands im telling you it may seem harmless but good people have lost their lives overseas due to someone impersonating a us military service member to get on a us instillation, you might of remembered we burnt our uniforms and didn't throw them away...what your doing is against the laws of our country as i stated before veteran or not...
