3 years ago I started with 3 hops in clay soil. This year I have enough to offer a pint baggie full for auction, brewed 5 gallons of beer and have enough to reseed for next year!! Just poke some holes, drop in the hos and cover them up. The vines need a trellis and lots of sun.

These are Cascade hops. While a far cry from enough to brew a batch, there are enough to plant vines enough to harvest within a year to be able to brew. This strain of hops does great. I started out with just 3 buds and planted the blooms/buds for 3 years. This being the 3rd year, I brewed my first batch.
This hop is used in pale ale, ambers and IPAs.

awesome! thank you! my husband and I just brewed our pumpkin beer and kiwi ipa last weekend. do you know if its legal to ship to Arizona from where you are? I know a lot of states outlawed the personal sale between states. just wondering :)
