Fertilizer is the key. Fish emulsion works great, but really stinks.

That should do it for sure! I normally bury my extra left-over fishbait and all of the innerds in my compost pile... but perhaps they would be better used by allowing them to naturally decompose in a bucket (with lid) and be applied to the garden plants! Yes, it does cause one to wrinkle the nose (and curl the nostril hairs).
