Description

The listing, ~*~*~WHOLE LOT OF STEEL PENNIES~*~*~ has ended.

I am not sure how many pennies are in the container they are in , but it is 3 inches and full of 1943 wheat pennies. Copper wasn't used in pennies that year because they were using it for ammunition. They are not graded . Just a found bunch of pennies. (in the little container in they are in)

Is the container square, rectangle or circular?
For example: length, width & height of the container and how many inches full is said container?
This will give of some idea how many were looking at if you prefer not to count them.

Awesome lot thanks for offering! Would love to wi n these for my Mom... When I was like I guess 7-9 years old I took a mint roll of these coins (my Mom collects coins)and for some reason went outside with them. I knew I wasn't supposed to even have them so when my older brother came after me trying to get them I took off running thru a field in front of our home... They say all you could see was a whirl with d of pennies flying thru the air...I was attempting to get rid of the

Watching. Just in case nobody has figured this out yet. The container is a standard penny container which holds 50 pennies. Looks to be shy of a couple. Thanks for listing them and HAPPY COLLECTING to all:)

I truly never seen one of those containers before I came across these guys. I actually have another one but it is only little close to half full. (same pennies)

Are they ALL steel?
Some of the pictures make it look like some are copper. It could just be the lighting.. But very very few pennies were made in error with copper in 1943.
Just like the steel 1944 pennies.. Made in error... Very rare.

I'm a poet. ;)

It must be the lighting (old house , bad light) Some are dirtier than others. I am no expert but they all look exactly the same to me. I took the ones in the second container out (it happens to be right here beside me ) and they too are all the same . They have a different feel and weight to them than copper pennies do. Hard to explain but if you know about these guys then you know what I mean.

I am sorry but I didn't mean to bid on the penny's and I haven't learned how to remove a bid yet new at this.

You haven't bid on them according to the bidding ifo. But for future reference . You ca not accidentally bid on anything. The system will ask you if you are sure you want to bid this amount ? before it lets you submit the bid.

The 1943 silver colored penny is a wartime issue made of steel, and coated with zinc. During World War II, copper was so badly needed for the war effort (to make shell casings) that the U.S. penny was made out of steel that year, which is why most 1943 pennies are silver colored. They are worth about 12 to 15 cents each in circulated condition, and as much as 50 cents or more if unCirculated.

There are a few error coins known from 1943, where the penny was accidentally struck in copper. These are extremely rare- So the one you have is a copper penny I would say.
