The listing, Shoo Fly Black Rod seeds has ended.
Nicandra physalodes forms a 4 ft high bush with absolutely beautiful blue flowers from spring until fall and produces pods like Chinese lanterns except the the pods do not turn orange, they are just a tan color but still pretty cool looking and I often get many requests for seeds and cuttings from these plants. The stems are a deep purple/black and that emphasizes the blue flowers. However this year the flowers were more lavender and I'm not sure why but the weather here was very unstable and maybe that had something to do with it. It will reseed itself and probably in warmer climates, this could be invasive but not sure. I live in zone 5a and had only a few come up from last year. Farmers used to (probably still do) grow these around their farms and homes to keep away flies and it does seem to really work. I've grown these for 2 or 3 years and haven't had a problem at all since growing them.
