Yes it does. You have the option of a male or female voice. Guess they didn't want to be biased. LOL! You can also use it for MP3 and video play back.

That I am not sure of. It really depends on which company you choose to get updates from. There are different companies that you can get updates from such as Navteq and TeleNav. I'm sure some do charge for updates and there are probably free downloads online. Just as a precaution I myself would purchase an update.

i see that you called jvc, perhaps you can get the info that bidders are seeking.
Also, description states 3.5" screen, that appears to use most of the available space on the unit,
further down, dimensions are quoted as being, Dimensions: 12.1 x 6.4 x 4.2 inches (W x H x D); weighs 3.3 pounds
that would be a monster.
but i would make a great video player.

Do you have the software (CD) that comes with it, so you can download the updates from JVC web page ??....., because without the CD you wont be able to do it..!!
Dec 13th, 2010 at 1:10:19 PM PST by
Original
According to JVC which I just called directly you do not have to have a CD to download updates. You however will need to have a USB cord in order to connect it to your desktop or laptop. Drivers are also available to download online. If anyone who wishes to bid and wants their toll free number I'll be happy to provide it for them. I don't mind them asking questions, especially if you want to be sure of something you're bidding on.

few questions is there a stand to place it onto your dashboard, in order to download updates you need a usb so is it included if not do you know where i can buy one.
Also how do you download the updates

Hi Denny. Good questions. There was a stand that was included when I purchased it. Too be honest I have no clue where it is. I am sure if someone wanted it that it could easily be purchased on Ebay or Amazon. The USB is a standard one. I actually used one that I had for my HTC and Nokia cell phones to charge it because the ends where the same. Also there is a car charger that comes with it. As far as downloading the updates it really depends on what company you choose to do your downloads with. So far the only two that I know of are Telenav and Navteq. I will do more research tomorrow to see if there are any others. I would imagine it would be the same as downloading information on your computer. Sorry for being so long winded. : )

Does it have text-to-speech (mentions street names instead of just right or left) and bluetooth?
Dec 18th, 2010 at 7:24:42 PM PST by
Original
Sorry for the late response. it does not have text to speech, but instead lets you know when you're approaching your turn in miles, feet, etc. before you get there. It also lets you know how long it will take you to get to your destination as you're driving. Thanks for asking.

Hi, I just noticed that in your description you stated "Will also ship internationally ONLY if you are willing to pay the cost of priority shipping." and then you said that you're NOT offering international shipping when someone asked you how much it would be? Did you make a mistake?

Wow seems like you answered most of your own questions. Which it is good to do research. When I called JVC I was told the updates for maps isn't done directly by them, but through 3rd party companies. I do not have an original owners manual, but I was able to find one online that was downloadable. Here is there website for JVC. www.jvc.com. Not sure if this will be clickable so you may have to copy and paste in your browser. I do know that Navteq and Telenav also offer downloads.
