The listing, 1909 T206 PIEDMONT TOBACCO HONUS WAGNER PITTSBURGH PIRATES REPRINT CARD MINT has ended.

1909 T-206 HONUS WAGNER. Reprint of the World's Most Valuable Card.

You are bidding on a Reprint Card of the World Famous 1909 Piedmont Tobacco T-206 Honus Wagner Baseball Card. This reprint card is in Mint condition.

Honus Wagner, who played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was one of the five original inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Wagner batted over .300 in 17 consecutive seasons and was the National League batting champion eight times.

Why is the 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card so valuable? The earliest baseball cards were produced and distributed by tobacco companies, and according to legend, the Honus Wagner card was pulled from the American Tobacco Company's 1909 set due to Wagner's objection to the use of his image for the promotion of tobacco products.

FYI: This card is the same size as the original which is smaller than today's baseball cards.
Questions & Comments
Original
the Gretzky wagner is the only known mint. there are about 49 others in less then desirable condition. mlb hall of fame has o e of them along with various other collectors. they are bent, ripped, torn, water marked, and various other damages. but one is close to mint which is why it is the most valuable card in the world.

This is a very popular reprint and I do believe that you are correct that there are only a hand full left in the world. At one time I actually had an original (In my hand, not owned) that was badly trimmed. But it was the real thing as it was certified. It was only worth about $50,000 at the time.
