Description

The listing, Papaver somniferium Three kinds, Three baggies has ended.

Auction is for three different kinds of papaver somniferium seeds. You will get three baggies of three different types of seed plus a bonus baggie. I always include a generous portion of seeds. If you read my feedback on seed auctions you'll see many are pleased with the amount of seeds I send.

Types are persian white, red mix, which can include pepperbox, fushias, reds, or double type blooms. Finally dutch blue, which produces lighter variety's, such as pinks, lavendar, and pale color blooms. Also a bonus of which ever seed type you would like more of.

The best way to germinate poppy seeds is to scatter then where you want to grow them, on good soil, that has been loosened (about 12"), Make sure soil has good drainage. Keep moist then when sprouts are about an 1", thin to about six inches apart to help them thrive. After established regular watering, but they are drought tolerant and dont like being overwatered.

Indoor planting isn't recommended unless you plant them in the pot you will grow them in, with proper lighting sources, and soil mix. They don't transplant well, and don't like fertilizer. You can transplant the ones you grow outdoors, when soil is damp and seedlings are small by lifting with a spoon, and replacing in a new area. Outdoor transplanting seems to be much more forgiving.

Seed baggies are approx 2", and will be shipped to you nicely protected.
Shipping is now free in USA only, no international.
Thanks for stopping by, please fan, and ill do the same.

Have a great day, and happy planting!

What would be proper indoor lighting?

People that grow them indoors usually use artificial lighting. The exact strength Im not sure of, but there are some great youtube videos to refer to that will show you how to do it.

You would have to use grow lights of some sort to provide some artificial sunlight. I just don't recommend it would be worth the effort when they are so much easier to grow outside. Not that it cant be done, but its not an easy task. YouTube has some good videos showing how some people have had success growing them indoors.

Me too. Especially love the danishes with the poppy seed filling. Just as nice as the pretty blooms they offer. Poppys are my fav! Thanks for watching, I would fan back but they have a limit? lol Gotta figure that out so I can fan again. Hope you get a chance to bid. I will send a different type as a bonus.
