Jewelweed is delightful in several ways! First of all, it attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Secondly, if you get poison ivy, it is an old and effective remedy. It is prolific and will seed itself. Jewelweed is a must for any wildflower garden. The blooms are a bright orange. Best of all, perhaps, is that it will bloom even in a fairly shady area!
Put the seeds in the fridge for six weeks to simulate winter. These come up in the spring and reseed themselves every year! When you touch the seed pods they burst, giving them the nickname of "touch-me-nots."
These are wonderful to have in my wildflower garden. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do!
