ok heather ESN is the The ESN, or Electronic Serial Number, is a permanent identification number used to recognize mobile devices accessing particular telecommunications networks. The ESN is assigned and embedded into a wireless communications device by the device's manufacturer. It is not to be confused with the Mobile Identification Number, which is the identifier assigned by the wireless carrier (such as T-Mobile or Verizon), not the manufacturer (such as Motorola or Nokia). The embedded ESN is generally located under or below the battery of a mobile device, or on the back of the device itself. Once embedded, the ESN is not easily alterable, which is why it can be used to electronically check the mobile device against fraudulent use or ownership

Check your cell phone's box for the ESN. Electronic serial numbers are printed onto a sticker and located somewhere on the box--usually on the opening flap. You'll see two ESN numbers on the sticker. The one you want will be labeled "DEC ESN" followed by the serial number.

Find your ESN on the phone itself if the box isn't available or the sticker containing the ESN is missing. First, shut off your cell phone. Then remove the battery cover and the battery itself. The ESN will be located on the back of the phone where the battery was. Locate the string of numbers labeled "ESN DEC."

Locate your ESN through your cell phone by hitting the "Settings" option, then the option labeled "Phone Info." Scroll through the list of technical data on your phone to find the ESN.

BUT since there is no contract on your phone no need to do this!

Mostly it's like fingerprints and carriers will ask for this number to determine if phone was stolen or was under contract and no one can use a phone that has bad ESN number
