Toni Morrison's first Novel. Copyright is 1994. Story is set in Morrison's hometown of Lorain, Ohio. It is the story of black, eleven year old Pecola Breedlove. She wants her eyes to turn blue so she will be as beautiful as the blond, blue-eyed children in America.

The story is so much more than just Breedlove's journey to self actualization of what is beautiful versus what the popular belief of beauty is. It offers genuine insight into the black communities' and families' struggles and strengths in the 1940's.
