These feature a everyday Jose, who I affectionately call Posada and an elegant lady, Catrina (immortalized in the satrical etchings of Jose Guadalupe Posada, a highly political artist during the Mexican Revolution. Posada felt the Mexican women of means were too quick to embrace the Western ways of Europe and cast off their own culture, so he quite often depicted them as dead figures, hanging on to the trappings of a life that only the very rich could attain.)

Anyhoo, so much for my art lecture. I do encourage you to read up on Posada though, his work is incredibly poignant.
