Botanical name : Belamcanda chinensis 'Freckle Face'

Actually a member of the Iris family (Iridaceae), named for its lily-like growth habit. The plants begin blooming in mid-summer of their 2nd year. Germinated in pots or direct sow in the fall, about 6 weeks before your FIRST frost.

The "blackberry" part comes from the appearance of the seed pods. They open up when the seeds are mature to reveal what look like the biggest, plumpest blackberries you've ever seen. THEY ARE NOT EDIBLE and they WILL make a body awful sick.

Likes a spot that gets partial sunlight, esp. in the afternoon, but will do well in full sun in USDA zones 6 or below. The full growing range of this plant is USDA zones 4a to 10b.

All seeds I offer have been treated with ground cinnamon to help inhibit seedling problems with damp-off. Some surplus cinnamon residue may be seen in the seed packet.
