Takes 1 9V battery. One is included as it is already in the machine, however how much life is left in it is unknown. Used only a couple of times, perfect condition.

Great for personal use, as a gift to an expecting friend, or as a pretty handy spy tool when you want to know what people are thinking of getting you for Christmas/Birthdays...just sayin'.
