Sambos restaurant has an interesting history. The Name Sambo's actually comes from combining the two founders names SAM Battistone, and Newell BOhnett, However the term "sambo" was a derogatory name for African American males. this ultimately sealed their fate.

There is still One restaurant open in Santa Barbara, but from what I understand, the rest are closed. This Particular one comes from a restaurant that has been closed a while, which just adds to its uniqueness
