Description

The listing, Seed Bombs! Guerilla Gardening - Grow Food Anywhere has ended.

This is my second auction with these. This is a much bigger lot. I've recently become aware of guerilla gardening & seed bombs (I like to call this version planet pills!). Most of the ideas I have seen involve adding seeds to a ball of clay & tossing them in empty lots or hard to reach areas. Here in FL the sun is so hot that it would likely bake clay into a brick. So I got the idea of gelatin capsules. This way when it rains the gelatin shell melts & your seeds are exposed. So much land is sitting unused, and so many people are struggling to keep their families fed, I thought this was a great movement. Food. Anywhere. For anyone.
These capsules are of course for tossing & planting, not consumption. I used only new gelatin capsules. This auction is for 10 capsules. There are 3-5 or more seeds in each except the corn has 2 each due to size. I tried to do this lot with things that could grow on their own a bit easier. The capsules you are getting include:
Cantaloupe x2
Sugar Daddy Peas x2
Marconi Red Peppers x2
Cucumber x1
Early Golden Acre Cabbage x1
Silver & gold hybrid corn x2.
All are packed for 2013 and fresh seeds.
I would love to hear any thoughts or ideas about these!
Shipping is free but please allow me up to 7 days to ship. Also please no advertising other auctions in comments as I really would like to read about what people think instead. Thanks so much & grow food not lawn!

I'm tellin ya, it needs to catch on. Or similar ideas. I'm a single parent of an autistic teen that I homeschool. Its just us, and there isn't any child care out there for him. It's impossible to eat fresh healthy fruits & veggies on what we live on. Ive started a garden of my own, even with things neither of us eat. When those are ready Ill set a table at the end of the driveway & give it to neighbors. Just think if 1 person every 10 houses or so did that...what a difference in people's diets!

Thanks for offering this xsjx -- for spreading the word (and seeds!)
BTW: The idea for seedballs/seedbombs began as a way to re-vegetate barren or abused land. The recipe calls for:
- 1 part clean seed mix (from plants that will, ideally, grow well together)
- 5 parts powdered red clay -- to protect the seeds from birds until they are ready to sprout
- 3 parts compost (or horse or cow poop) to provide some fertilizer
- 1 to 2 parts water.
The first three ingredients are usually mixed dry, then just enough water is added to make the mixture workable, and then the mix is rolled into balls -- some say marble-size, but some folks make them bigger (you can throw them further if they have some weight!)....the basic idea is that when the rains come the clay ball will melt (it may be a good thing if it's hard - that way the seeds won't sprout til there's ample moisture)...the plants that survive are the ones that are right for that habitat.
