will it work with a new battery and are there markings for the sterling silver

Yes, it is marked with the "925" stamp for the sterling silver. As for it working---it did when I last used it. But, that was probably 8+ years ago. The battery was dead when I took it out of my jewelery case and has not been replaced since then.

where is it marked 925? You said the band has gold colored rings connected by silver clasps. So the band is not 925?, just the watch itself?
