Hey, I'm soo sorry to bother you, but I just had a quick question. I'm new to Listia, but I noticed you've been a member for a while- and have posted a lot of auctions. Can you please explain to me how the "credit system" works? Like, say an auction I'm going to post is worth at minimum 10$ cash. How many credits would 10$ be equal to? I have nooo idea what to make my "starting bid" for the auctions I want to post, because idk what the credits equal. :/ Also, I noticed you offer free shipping for all of your posts. But from what I've gathered from using USPS in the past- the cheapest way to send a padded envelope or Box (if you need a free envelope or box provided to you at the USPS office) is via Priority mail, which is $5.95 for the cheapest option (a padded envelope or a small box) Am I missing something here? Otherwise, how is it worth it for you (or any seller) to pay at least $5.95 to ship a small item like a movie or a onesie or a couple of books, for not very many credits? I don't understand how it'd be worth it to pay $5.95 to earn enough credits for an item that would be valued at about the $5.95 you payed for shipping. If you could please answer these 2 questions for me- I'd appreciate it sooo sooo much. I could really use some help! Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful day! :)

Hi katilynne90 and Welcome to Listia :)
I will give you my opinion, there must be lots of other reasons and different ways to do Listia:
There are many reasons to do Listia as a Buyer and as a Seller:
You can get rid of stuff that you have to many, you don't want to through it away, you want to help your neighbor, you found a good deal in something that other people might need. Is like to have a good friend that shares with you :)
Also, many people don't have access to some stuff. They live far away, they don't have something in their states, for health reasons they can't go shopping, or there is something so unique that the only way you can get it is through Listia.
I don't see Listia as a way to earn money. I see it as a way to earn good stuff.
If you are an honest seller and buyer you will get many benefits in the long run. In some stuff that you auction you will win and in others you will loose if you see every auction individually. BUT in the Long Term you earn a lot.
For example, there was one lady that got married and she got a second blender. I won the old one for a very reasonable shipping and credits amount. It looks New and it works perfectly. She didn't have another way to get rid of it and I'm a very happy customer. We both win :)

About the Shipping, I recycle a lot. I use to use the same envelops that I already got in the mail if it is possible. Most of my auctions are sent through First Class Mail that is very fast, safe and cheaper. Sometimes when the item is too heavy or delicate I send it through Priority Mail.
In regard of the credits. By the book $1.00 is 1,000 credits. This only works if you are going to buy credits and it doesn't guarantee that you will get the same amount of credits when you put something in auction.
I have posted the same item several times and I never get the same amount.
Something very important is to be very clear in the conditions of your auction. Also, to describe your items truthfully. Pictures of your real item is a must.
So, to enjoy Listia you have to be very responsible and take it as a long run activity. I have met very nice people and got lot of good stuff.
As a new Listian, I recommend you to go always by Listia Rules and Keep your Word. That's it! :)
