This is a succulent bulb with long, pendulous, evergreen leaves. It needs very little care. The bulb grows on top of the soil. It makes babies on the side under the skin of the bulb, and they burst the outer skin when large enough- hence the name. Mature mother bulbs will produce a tall spike of green and white starry flowers. It is one of the easiest plants to grow, and likes well-drained soil.
