I do not know if these are real smoky black topaz or not, i know they are at least 30yr old costume jewelry, and back then they used a lot of semi precious stone in their jewelry, there are no markings i can see though,,,they are just lovely the way the first pic i am holding them is the way they clip on and, how they will look on your ears, they sparkle beautifully! i think they are just smudges, they need to be cleaned better, i have lupus sle, and cannot see very well anymore, i will have my hubby clean them good for the buyer of the auction.....purrs..catspaw1955
