yes they have been read, no we don't smoke or have pets in the house.

Comes with the box to hold all 4 books
Couple of the cover corners are crinkled, not bad
all are very readable. Our grand daughters love Ramona books.
I would recommend this age 8-13 couple of our 6 yr old grand daughters
could read them.
