if you'r items are marked 925 they are stirling silver if they were plated they shouldn't be marked as silver there are also other items from the 1800s and early 1900s that were never marked at all.. some moderen jewelry makers that still make there's by hand also do not mark there's either..

Seems like you know your silver. I purchased a large lot of these chains on ebay and all of them were marked 925 when I received them. That is all I know. I planned on selling them at a local marked but they went out of business and I no longer have a need for these chains..
