Questions & Comments
Yes, it should measure between 7-7.5 inches from inside of one handle to the other - the flat, solid part of plate. I've got several books on Imperial and Candlewick specifically, due to having a large collection I add to from time to time. This is one of my few areas of expertise. Glad I could fill you in. :D
Yes, It is 7.5" across, That you so much for helping me, I'm learning new things everyday...I bought all of these things from my Aunt's estate sale because i knew she new her stuff! She was a lifetime collecter! :) I just wish I would have bought more! Thank you again for helping me, if ever i can help you just let me know! I fanned you! have a great night!
absolutely candlewick! it is elegant glass that is hard to take anything from it. Heisey is a beautiful glass but i would take candlewick any day of the week..it just is just so well made and crystal clear. No matter where you put it in your home, it is would be noticed. Great piece! fanned and watching!
Thank you so much for the information, i bought at my aunts estate sale, she too was a great admirer of beautiful things and of value! it is a very beautiful piece that can be displayed anywhere! :) Thank you so much for your kind words! :)
Imperial went out of business quite awhile ago. Isnt Astabula up close to Conneaut? I dont think that is spelled right lol.. Anyway the snows up there are rough. Millersburg is about 60 miles south of Cleveland. Ashland is close to not too far from Millersburg..I dont think anyway. Yes I have seen this glass and owned some of it and every piece is always crystal clear and absolutely georgeous. They had a wonderful assortment of different pieces. "Boopy" looks a little bit like it but doesnt measure up to candlewick. All of the little balls on candlewick are perfectly spaced. The other company had theirs right against each other. This piece is an expensive piece. The clarity and ringtone is perfect as well. I would try for it myself but really have no place for it. But anything you need to know about this glass.i will be glad to help.
Thank you so much Marcy, this information is very helpful, It makes me happy to know this is a expensive piece! :) I will have to give you my home email in a private message so we can keep in touch! Thanks again! :)
Lenox bought Imperial in 1973, and went under in 1984. I own over 150 pieces of Candlewick, inherited from my mother/parents. Almost all pieces are from 1940s, when the crystal was particularly fine. It increased in thickness over the following decades. This piece is a 7"-7.5" 2-handled plate, sometimes referred to as a mini-muffin plate, mold number 400/52E (sides turned up). It was made between 1953 and 1958. Price Guide: $20-25 in pristine condition.
Thanks Kelly, I was wondering what you meant by 7'-7.5", is that the length? Thank you so much for all the info! :) Its so nice to find ones that really know their stuff! :)
Heisey glass has a diamond on the bottom of the piece with an H in the diamond. . It is a beautiful piece too but has been reproduced. Depression glass, fiesta, westmoreland all have been reproduced. Depending on how the Diamond is, on Heisey, will tell you if it is reproduction. Even Fenton, altho, they have closed their doors, reproduced many pieces. Cambridge and candlewick have not reproduced so these pieces will all go up in value. This piece especially will because it is unusual and unique.
