The listing, ** Marigold Seeds ** has ended.
Marigold flowers are also known as tagetes. There are so many varieties of marigolds some of my favorite are the cracker jack, inca, bonanza, & nugget. There is alot I haven't mention. They are very easy to care for.
Plant the seeds indoors in the spring to get them started. When the soil has warmed up outside then you can transplant them. I generally wait till after the last freeze. I live in Zone 6b so I start them in late feb. to middle of March. Then I transplant them around Late May. First couple of weeks I cover them with plastic at night & remove the plastic early morning before the sun hits them. I do this because I live near the ski resort and it is still pretty cold, LOL.
When I have my starts ready to plant I space them
about 30cm for my tall marigolds and 15cm for my small marigolds. Marigolds grow best in full sun.
But they do so well with very little care I plant them anywhere shade or sun. they prefer fertile and well drained soil. I found out this past summer that they can grow well in rocky area because some of my seeds I tossed onto the ground came up in the big size gravel and rock garden I have around my pond.
