If the package is too large USPS also will charge what they call a balloon rate in addition to the shipping fee. I went through that when I shipped a vintage tin store sign that I sold on eBay.

You may have better luck having this shipped by USPS. I bought an entire wii band(drums,2 guitars, mic and it shipped for 32$ and some odd change. Or if you could take it out of the original box and not have it put together when shipped you could likely ship it USPS for about $28. I shipped a large fountain vase with standard shipping for 24$ and it weighed 20lbs. Hope this helps
