Pokemon heart gold! For the gameboy color, works on the gameboy sp advanced as well! If gin is used you will get the silver box thing... Not sure what it is but I know it attaches to the GBA sp.

personally i dont know what the silver box is but it might be one of those volume enhancers and its pokemon gold not heartgold ( which is for ds)

i can answer the not saving question sort of! i heard the gold and silver versions arent like the others (red yellow blue) it most likely will save

It is not heart gold it is the original gold version this is the one for the gameboy and is what heart gold is based off of

I would say that the silver box thing is actually a radio for the Game Boy Advance.
