Thanks so much for offering this! I make faux gauges now for regular pierced ears but always wanted to learn to do the actual sized gauges. :)

They are not called gauges. You should not be stretching unless you know what they are called. You should not be selling unless you know what materials are safe. Polymer clay is NOT safe and if very toxic if not baked correctly and glazed with and EXPENSIVE glaze. Polymer is porous, and VERY unhealthy for your ears.

I know that they are called plugs. I used the terms "gauges" and "stretchers" for search results. I started stretching my ears when I was in high school - over 15 years ago, so I know quite a bit about the topic. Polymer clay is non toxic. Many independent companies have conducted research on the safety of polymer clay. The clay I use is ACMI/AP certified and conforms to the ASTM D-4236 standard, which are very strict standards. This means that it's safe to use by both adults and children and doesn't produce negative effects even if ingested. As clay is a porous material, it should only be worn in healed lobes as the clay would adhere to skin that isn't healed (similar to wood plugs) There has been some talk about certain chemicals being released when the clay is being baked. This is also untrue. Nothing is released by the clay due to the low temperature that it is baked at. I've been wearing polymer clay plugs on and off for over a decade and have experienced absolutely no negative effects

Nimz, do not criticize the seller for their keyword techniques. It's not up to the seller to be sure people know what they are doing. And not everyone makes gauge/plug earrings for the purpose of putting in the ear, but rather to dangle from a tunnel. Many people on Etsy and Storenvy sell these with this instruction, but you'd still gauge it properly so it fits inside tunnels. You can purchase bigger ones for bigger tunnels, smaller ones for smaller tunnels, etc. Honestly I know many people who wear polymer clay plugs in their ears with no issue. The key is that you just wear them for an event or occasion and not something you keep in for days on end. If you wear them for a few hours it's perfectly fine. Not to mention, who's to say that the intended recipient for this auction wouldn't use an expensive nontoxic nonporous glaze? Don't assume people don't know what they're doing. And don't take over other peoples auctions, that's not cool at all!

Oh and one last note, the gauge title isn't exactly wrong.. most people think of plugs as the flat ones that "plug" your piercing and anything else, i.e. tentacles, would be gauges, since they are "gauge" sized specifically for the size piercing you have. Technically all of them are "gauges", since they are gauged specifically... when listing auctions or selling items on a site etc you take into consideration what the consumer would be searching for, not what a dictionary is telling you...
