I think that this pretty Faux-pearl circle brooch is right up there with the above mentioned staples for a classic jewelry box staple.

It is gold tone & each of the 12 pearls are prong set with teenie tiny prongs. See last photo. It's a
very unusual & secure setting & very well made. it measures just over an inch in diameter & is unbranded.
