Tested bakelite necklace , I purchased this item off of EBAY & it did arrive w papers of authenticy but they have since been lost there is a simple test any jeweler can do that will prove its bakelite .These are small cream colored bakelite beads that are strung on a natural colored rope &several of these strands are braided together & held w a antique clasp.This necklace is 16"long.

I never would have guessed it was Bakelite! I've got 3 I'm auctioning, right now.Does the test damage the pieces ? I'm pretty sure mine are. Celluliod was the earlier f the two I think, it's usually Ivory colored with lines running through it, very different from Bakelite which has a waxy look.

The test does slightly discolor the item but this particular piece has so many tiny beads I couldnt even tell where they had it done , it took almost a year of owning it before I found it ! It is an unusual
