Interesting necklace I got for xmas but no use for it. It's got a compartment to put stuff like change in there? It also has rocks/stones on it and bells dangling on the bottom.

It looks like a metal version of the Victorian Finger Purse. Back in the day they used to keep their thimbles, perfume sachets, keepsakes etc in little decorative bags around their necks. (I had one.) This one is metal rather than beaded, but its from the same idea. Just thought someone might find the history interesting :)

This is a purse not a necklace. I know because it has a 20 inch chain. It's meant to be antiqueish and it's small so you can carry it with you to like an opera or play of some sort and be stylish so people ask you about it (It's a European thing). It's meant to be an eye catcher purse. I'm surprised you would auction a wonderful purse like this!
