Hi! I'm not sure what the technical term for this cord is but if you were hooking your mp3/iPod/iPhone/cd player or any kind of music player in general to say, your car or a set of speakers that doesn't have an audio cord included then this is most likely the cord you would use. It is retractable and it can be set at different lengths. pulled totally out, it is approx. 2.5 feet long and as i said you can set it to a shorter length than this. Enjoy!!

Yes it is in the sense that it has never been used. I have had it though for about a year.
