It actually depends on what type bog batteries you are using. It will continue charging it until the batteries die, I think.
Alkaline batteries are recommended.

No. It runs on the batteries. When the batteries die, you replace them. Simple as that.

You need something with higher power to charge the iPads and iPad minis. This is a 5W, perfect for iPhone and iPod touch. For iPad and iPad mini you need at least 10W
