You can wear them in the thin cartilage of your ear. They're very small and good for shallow piercings. If you aren't familiar with them, they may not be for you, because it takes a VERY steady hand to get the bead on and off.

I currently have 14g's in my ears, but these look like they may actually be a lower gauge(like 10g maybe)

All I can say is they were advertised as 14g, 1/4" and when I got them they were in a bag marked 14g, 1/4". There were 6 and my husband didn't like them because they were so small (the diameter)and I subsequently lost the bead trying to replace it. So I had 5 left and have kept them in their bag in my jewelry for around a year.
