No, this device doesn't record. This is a converter box for us people who cannot afford a digital TV, like our old TV or just plain can't afford cable. It's also handy when cable is not available.
This is simply a Digital Converter Box which translates Digital signals to your analog TV (due to the new transference of Digital signals only) so you can still watch limited channels without having to buy a new Digital Ready TV. Sorry about that.

Yes, I can see u 2 are having fun, I guess that's what it's all about. My service provider does have free local, but I bought this when I didn't have cable at all. I also noticed on the Magnavox that a student was looking for one, as I guess they don't have cable options on campus. Thanks for the comments.

Actually Dan, with this box You receive digital content,i.e. it's a atsc Tuner. Just it is down converted to standard definition. And if You have a newer HDTV it would look better since most of them up convert the signal
