Description

The listing, Red Zinger Hibiscus/Jamaician Sorrell, 40+Free Ship fresh harvested, viable seeds. has ended.

Also known as jamaican sorrell,, roselle, or red zinger hibiscus. This plant produces,so easily as shown in the picture, they are similar to a hibiscus plant, but flowers only last a short time. However they continue to bloom throughout the whole spring winter season. You'll be blessed with your own share of seeds, and the red fruit that is used from the calyxes to make jicama tea. The tea is kinda tart flavor, but it is harvested from peeling skin from ripe pods, washing then sun drying. It is also used to make a fabulous wine, if your into trying your skills at that. I add a bit a sugar or honey to sweeten, and then the flavor is plesant, and would be great for soda water additon also. One thing I would say is that its more like a plant than a vine, but some might prefer that. It grows about three feet to four feet tall, but colors your yard with lovey bright red calyxes, pink flower blooms, and a dark green leafy foilage that is sometimes eaten as spinach, in salads by those who know it nutritional value, as well, the tea is very good for you packed with vitamins. Also the red fruit from this flowering plant would make a nice dye for fabrics also.

I usually sow seeds in spring, but grow another batch indoors during winter so that I have blooming plants early on, and can enjoy them for many months. Seeds are usually ready to harvest when you peel fruit skin back to reveal a slightly brownish pod with slight openings, and if not sure, open to see if seeds are a dark brown color, which suggests they are ready to harvest. It makes a lovely indoor plant, and can be transplaned outdoors even when plant is larger than average transplants, so very forgiving and easy germination makes this plant an ideal for those who think they cant grow anything or lack a green thumb.

Right how offering free shipping in Usa, seeds are medium size, and I usually provide some bubble wrapped protection in a nice card envelope with seed baggie or paper envelope.
