Description

The listing, The tomatillo (Physalis philadelphica)-10 seeds-For our Hispanic friends has ended.

The tomatillo (Physalis philadelphica) is a plant of the nightshade family, related to the cape gooseberry, bearing small, spherical and green or green-purple fruit of the same name. Tomatillos originated in Mexico,[1] and are a staple of that country's cuisine. Tomatillos are grown as annuals throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Tomatillos are frequently eaten fried, boiled or steamed. The leaves are also used to treat urinary tract infection.
The tomatillo fruit is surrounded by an inedible, paper-like husk formed from the calyx. As the fruit matures, it fills the husk and can split it open by harvest. The husk turns brown, and the fruit can be several colors when ripe, including yellow, red, green, or even purple. Tomatillos are the key ingredient in fresh and cooked Mexican and Central-American green sauces.

This is not really a tomato as you read description.. Found the item in a supermarket that caters to all-I never seen it elsewhere. It is used by people of Mexico and Central America. It is like the Indian cucumber-a real treat for Indians-it is not a cucumber but a gourd. ty

Hello ganeshlord,

In order to have better results with this auction, please add more details regarding your item. Your auction is missing a description or picture. These two things will go a long way in instilling confidence in potential bidders. We also highly recommend that you include pictures of the actual item that is being auctioned, (not just use stock photos from the manufacturer). For higher valued items, please include a notecard or piece of paper with your Listia username in one of the pictures of the actual item. This will also reduce the number of questions that your bidders will ask, and most importantly, you`ll get the best results with your auction.

Thanks for making these changes and good luck with your auction!

Most Americans call it ugly Tomato-grocer didn't know it either-it is primary use in Mexico-Central America-not USA but probably by people from that area. Like the Indian cucumber-most Americans think it is a cucumber but it is a gourd. thank you for your comment-it reflects alot on your mindset
