I apologize for the graphic details...lol. I was active army and when I went thru basic, I went through bayonet training and that is what the drill Sargent explained was the reason why they were so dull. You most definitely can sharpen a bayonet and it will hold sharp better than any other bladed object because of its thickness. A bayonet is much more preferred in my opinion for survival, very tough and highly versatile. Like I said I'm really interested and I am gonna put up a great fight to win this auction. You couldn't have made my day any better. Thanks.
That was my attempt at dry humor. Guess it didnt work. ;) These knives really are very versatile. We keep one in the glove box in our cars because we live in deer country and you never know when you might need one... Good luck!
The tip of the bayonet is like that so when it enters the body of your enemy it tears the skin making it harder (if at all) for clotting, also never ever sharpen this knife, so when the knife slides across the skin, again, it tears the skin. Makes it worse for your foe. But I want this and when I want something I put my all into it. Great auction.
Well..that's a kind of gory description..but thank you for the info. I'm glad you like the auction..good luck. My husband added: if a bayonet is sharp it sticks in the bone and is harder to pull out and can get stuck. But... it can be sharpened for a survival knife and can hold a nice edge.
