The listing, Large Rough Emerald in Matrix has ended.

Up for auction is this 78.5 carat emerald in matrix. It's quite a chunk of rough emerald will make a nice faceted stone or two. We've done alot of traveling and this specimen, like the others, comes from Brazil. Check out my next one. Questions? Ask me.

When the stones are mined they usually have other material that cling to them (matrix) which needs to be cleaned off before you polish or cut the stone. I use a tack hammer and/or dremel tool. If there's a cluster of stones in matrix I use the tack hammer. They're pretty tough, (7.5 to 8 on the mohs scale) and rubies are (9 on the mohs scale). Any other questions just ask.
