This coin like numbered 2 sales tax token was used as change during transactions in Colorado. Colorado had a 2 percent sales tax from 1935 until 1945. These 2 mill tokens were used when tax was less than a penny.
The tokens were typically issued in aluminum, plastic or this paper mucilage.
It has five concentric circles in the middle and reads COLORADO RETAIL TOKEN SALES TAX on each side with the number 2 at 3 and 9 o'clock. This example has seen use as it has some slight bend and wear to the embossed letters and the plus sign or cross appears to have been stamped.
