Description

The listing, Georgia Desirable Pecan Nut Seeds (10) Bonus With GIN has ended.

This is for 10 Georgia Pecan Nut Seeds. I don't have enough room here to list germination etc.
Desirable: One of the first pecan varieties developed from a controlled cross in the early 20th century. Larger nuts than Stuart, with a medium-thick shell that stands up to mechanical harvesting and shelling. Much in demand. Good flavor, good color that is retained during roasting. The best pecan for roasting and salting.

Zones 5-9 outside... Have known people to start them indoors and keep them on porches but after 10 years this really isn't ideal.

have you started these from nuts yourself ? I am zone 8 in northern Oregon, it is wetter here in the winter than I remember it being when I lived outside Atlanta, but not by much, and our winters are mostly pretty mild and gloomy, It will take at least 2 trees to pollinate right? How tall does the Desirable get ? The trees we had in Ca were at least 60' +, but I have no idea what variety of pecan they were. thanks

yes you need more than 1 to pollenate. These can easily hit 60 ft. Thou it takes years. They will be fine out there to grow. Your in the same grow zone as here.

Yes I've start about 20 trees a year. When they hit 2-3 ft I sell them at the Vidalia Onion Festival.
