Description

The listing, Castor oil Seeds has ended.

Here is something that is really cool to grow. My mother in law gave me these seeds for christmas and the people in her community use the seeds for necklaces because they are so beautiful. She said most of the plants that she has seen in her community are around 5 to 6 feet tall but on the internet it says they can grow to 10 feet tall and the seeds are at the top of the plant. I will include 6 seeds for you to grow this summer.
Good luck and Happy Bidding

I have included free shipping but I cannot be responsible for the seeds if they get lost. No refunds sorry.

Can this be kept trimmed back to not allow it to grow so tall?

I do not know for sure. If they are like a lot of flowering plants if u trim them back instead of growing straight up they may grow out and bushy.

Yes, they can be pruned back all you want, but on mine at least, new foliage tends to grow up from the root more so than from the pruned trunk. Mine have never gotten really bushy and just want to be more tall and spindly. Some of the leaves get huge here. Much bigger than elephant ear leaves. Pretty plant. Not knocking your auction or trying to discourage your bidders, but do you know these are highly poisonous? Google "Ricin." It is a protien in these beans, and made into a dust or gas, becomes a biological/chemical weapon. Technically they are a schedule 1 controlled substance and you can be arrested for selling or even possessing them. I certainly am not going to flag or report you though. Seems like a silly law considering they grow all over the place and you can buy castor oil from the shelf at any drugstore. There are at least six of these plants in my own yard that were here when we bought the home. They were all over everyone's property I knew when I was a kid. Once they are established they will start coming up everywhere. Just be sure to keep the beans away from pets and kids. Really bad stuff, and does not take many beans ingested to do serious damage. An adult will die if they swallow as few as 5.

After getting off the phone with local pharmacy & Poison control center this is a legal item highly grown & purchase all over the world and is not a schedule 1 controlled substance and may i say again is not illegal to have or grow in United States. I was informed that there is many processes to go through to actually make this a drug. I was informed that it is not meant for humans to consume orally any amount of the oil that it is poisonous if ingested. But it is completely safe to touch. Much more was explained to me but it is not illegal to purchase or sale the seeds.

They don't honestly do much for the moles or gophers. They will stay about 4 foot away from the roots, but it won't protect a very big area. Not sure about rabbits. It is NOT completely safe to touch. Touching the seeds can lead to redness and pain. Touch them and then stick your hands in your mouth? Poisoned! Swallowing a single bean (less than one half of 1 grams) can be fatal to a child. Once processed into pure ricin, a drop the size of the head of a pin will kill an adult. Less than 3 yrs ago the FBI arrested a man in a Las Vegas hotel for possession of castor beans. Of course they were tipped off that he was making ricin by the hospital who treated him after he poisoned himself while boiling the beans. Not going to go back and forth on the poison or legality issues. Was chem warfare in the military, worked for several plant nurseries, and have been around these all my life. But don't take my word for it. Do the research.
