MOVIE ANECDOTES. By Peter Hay.
A couple short examples:
Walt Disney was dying in 1966 at St Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, next door to his studio. "Hazel," he said to the Disney Studio nurse attending him, "I hope I am remembered for more important things than inventing a mouse."
Asked what he looked for in a script, Spencer Tracy replied: "Days off."
Clint Eastwood was approached but declined to play the role that eventually went to Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now!. Eastwood later heard that the budget for Francis Ford Coppola's epic movie had topped $35 million. "For that sort of money," he said, "we could have invaded somewhere."
