The listing, 10K YG Iolite Ring - Size 8 has ended.

This ring has three violet Iolite cabochons with total carat weight of 2.30 carats in a very nice setting of 10K yellow gold. Two tiny accent diamonds (0.01ct). Size 8.

It says 10K on one side and has the Jewelers initials on the other.

This is beautiful, but what is lolite? Ive never heard of it before or maybe they call it by another name in the Carolinas!

As the transparent variety of cordierite, iolite, it is often used as a gemstone. The name "iolite" comes from the Greek word for violet. Another old name is dichroite, a Greek word meaning "two-colored rock", a reference to cordierite's strong pleochroism. It has also been called "water-sapphire" and "Vikings' Compass" because of its usefulness in determining the direction of the sun on overcast days, the Vikings having used it for this purpose.[7] This works by determining the direction of polarization of the sky overhead. Light scattered by air molecules is polarized, and the direction of the polarization is at right angles to a line to the sun, even when the sun's disk itself is obscured by dense fog or lies just below the horizon.
Gem quality iolite varies in color from sapphire blue to blue violet to yellowish gray to light blue as the light angle changes. Iolite is sometimes used as an inexpensive substitute for sapphire. It is much softer than sapphires. The largest iolite crystal found weighed more than 24,000 carats, and was discovered in Wyoming, US.[9]

I got it from my grandma and she said her skin does the same thing to it and it had a stamp o ? it if I remember right but I think it might have been gold plated cause it bent when I was asleep one night

Hard telling. Gold usually has the karats listed on it - like 9, 12, 14, 18 or 22K.

Actually you can be allergic to gold,too.Skin reactions can happen from most metals,
except stainless (Surgical ) steel. A lot of people just seal rings with nailpolish or a clear varnish or polyurethane,or wear rhodium plated.
