Description

The listing, Rare ✽ ANGEL HEART ✽ Oxheart Tomato ✽ 15 Seeds ✽ Organic Artisan has ended.

Rare artisan tomato, in the process of registration. This was my favorite tomato last summer. Large and meaty, these powerhouses produced an abundance of fruit with very few seeds. Angel Heart is perfect for colorful salsas and sauces. They cook into a thick, tasty sauce rather quickly. These are the most interesting oxheart paste tomatoes that I have ever seen! Artisan bred by Millard Murdock in North Carolina. If my calculations are correct, these seeds would be F6 or F7 for the year 2014. They should be true to seed, as every plant we grew this year had all the best traits. This is a great chance to grow an incredible, rare tomato!

Days: 80
Size: indeterminate
Season: mid-season
Color: orange
Type: OP Artisan
Uses: canning, salsa, sauce, juice, fresh eating

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my garden. They will be sent First Class mail for FREE in the United States. I only take Paypal for International bidders. I will also combine any additional auction seeds (within 5 days) for no additional shipping charge. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 65°F in the spring. Excellent for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Stake or cage the plants for support and to prevent sprawling on the ground.

do you ever post for Hungaeian ? Beefheart & Beefsteak - - what do these 2 naming adjectives represent?

TIA for your answers. Both are seriously posed to you. I've lurked your auctions on occasion and can see that you have got knowledge as well as apparently good resources for plant info.

There are so many heirloom tomatoes to choose from in the world. I've barely scratched the surface. I am happy that there are so many people keeping these heritage varieties available. I'm sure there are a few that have "Hungarian" in the name and probably originate from Hungary. Beefheart is another name for Oxheart. It is a larger heart-shaped tomato that is meaty and good for paste or slicing. I have a few. Beefsteak is a larger tomato too, similar to oxheart varieties that are also good for slicing. They can be used for juice or canning as well. Many times that you read "German" in the name, it is a beefsteak type. I have a few of those too. Don't even worry so much what type of tomato they are, they can pretty much be used any way that you want. You can make salsa with paste tomatoes, you can make paste with beefsteaks. You can even slice cherry tomatoes to put on a sandwich. I hope that helps. (:
