The world's greatest secret agent returns, as 007 faces the most bizarre and sinister arc villain in his career. — A dead aristocrat. A mysterious unknown credit card. A religious cult with a penchant for violence. All in all, it's a twisted, devilish business, worthy of Scotland Yard--not a project for the British Secret Service's foremost asset, James Bond.
At first it's a routine investigation into the death of a girl hauled out of the Thames, but the investigation becomes more than just routine when the corpse turns out to be the murdered daughter of a baronet and the only clue seems to be a credit card unknown to both the Royal Treasury and the IRS.
Further revelations follow. The deceased was a drug addict--until she saw the light via a religious sect called the Meek Ones, whose guru is internationally shady, enigmatic Father Valentine. Since the CIA is already investigating Valentine, the Secret Service is assigned the case.
Enter James Bond, who immediately makes several startling discoveries. Anther Meek One is discovered in possession of the same mysterious credit card. Father Valentine himself is suspected of diverting cult funds to buy arms for radical groups all over Europe. Most damning of all, he has links to the mega-czar of global vice and terrorism, Vladimir Scorpius.
