See, I'm not the only one. You said read above, but I don't see where u say what is won? I see u mentioned it would have to get twice as much as what listia got, so it would still have to reach 24000 for u to give the combo pack up? Is this what u r referring to?

You said you may be willing to take less, but like you, people want to be assured they won't be screwed out of credits trying to get it to a higher point. I know what you are trying to do, but I along with all buyers want to know what will happen if this thing gets high, but not high enough?
Jan 14th, 2011 at 3:52:19 PM PST by
Original
I didn't say I maybe willing to take less I said I WAS willing to take less (and gave the amount) because I knew it wouldn't get that high. I don't see any interest in getting the Blu-Ray combo set (as far as comments go) The only person that seems to be interested is you and if your the only one it wont make it, you know that as I do. I gave the least amount I would take for the full unopened set so if there's a interest it will get there. Just watch the bidding (if any more).
I'm not trying to screw anyone out of credits, I'm just trying not to get screwed. As you stated yourself this is a auction and there's really no way to know how it's going to end.
This is a auction for the DVD with a chance at getting the Combo set so it's up to the bidders to bid for it or not. If there is another person wanting it and you both bid your max it will get there but if your the only one it wont.

It just depends on how badly someone wants something and IF they happen to stumble across your auction. I am however a little confused on yours - is there just a normal dvd in your auction?

That's not always true. I've had a few items of my own that went for a lot more than expected and people slugged it out. I put up a 30 dollar bluray season of a show and only got 1000 for it. Then I got 8000 for something worth 6 dollars. That's how the site works. That's how auctions work. LIstia may get more a lot of the time because they are trusted. I've only been on here a few months and I've had many problems with sellers on here, so people like the trusted Listia. I understand wanting to cover yourself, but this is an auction and there's really no way to know.

To put it in perspective I've seen brand new 60 dollar games go for 20000. The blurry set is around 25 dollars. I will admit some people on this site aren't the brightest and u can hope two of those people will slug it out to pay 35000 for this. It could happen. I had a 50 cent item go for 1500 one time. My problem is is that with tiered auctions like this, they almost rip off the people who bid high, but not high enough.
Jan 13th, 2011 at 8:01:07 AM PST by
Original
As a bidder I agree and understand your point on getting ripped off with SOME tiered auctions but I also look at it from the giver point. If I post something I do/would want a fair amount of credits for the only way to cover myself is doing it in a tiered fashion if not then if bids only get to 101 for an item I was thinking to get 1000 for guess what I have to give the item to the winner.
As I have stated at least twice so far I didn't really expect it to reach that amount and was willing to take less for it. The people you speak of that will slug it out will only do that on listia's auctions NOT a members even if a member has the same item listed LOL. Just take a look at listia's auction of the DVD and then look at mine, mine ended before theirs did but for a LOOOOOOOOOOT less, if I had the other member link I could show you theirs went for a LOOOOOOOOT less also and that makes no sense to me so I'm going to cover myself because members are just to confusing to trust I would get a fair deal as a auction list er.

I understand exactly what you are saying and I agree with you 100%. I bought the blu-ray set for my son and its not cheap. You deserve the credits you are asking if they want th complete set. If it doesn't go that high well the dvd should be good enough! (smile) I wish you well with this auction.

Thanks for understanding. The bids wont go that high and I didn't expect it to but I do expect to get what it's worth and not just give it away and see it put up on ?bay for them to make a 100% profit off of it and only be out of a few credits.

i just checked listia, they have listed same dvd, not blu ray It went for a little over12000, so I agree that 35000+ is high even for blu ray. it depends on bidders if they want to bid that high towards listia items, it's their choice.
Jan 11th, 2011 at 7:25:35 PM PST by
Original
At least you looked most wont even look to see the BIGGGGG gap in Listia VS Member.
Yes it's their choice to bid that way and it's my choice not to accept anything under what I think it's worth or at least close to what they would GIVE away to listia, and yes 35500 is WAAAY to high but like I said above I'm willing to accept less.

XP points for checking in" so I'm sure after so many of those I you get the badge and it's the same way for the one's that check in the early morning hours they would get a Sunshine I think.

I honestly did/don't think any one would bid that high or use GET IT NOW. I really wanted to see if members would bid on another members auction as they would listia's. But as I stated above if I see a interest I'm willing to take less, but it has to be twice as much as there single DVD went for in order to get the full combo set.

Well, I guess the big question on everyones mind is what if they bids hit 15 or 20 thousand? Are those people just out of luck? It just seems like u r trying to drive bids up to a goal that will probably not be reached and then someone is going to be out a lot of credits.
Jan 11th, 2011 at 8:56:42 AM PST by
Original
Well it seems your the only one that has a interest in getting to the Combo set but it's evident that this will not go that high in fact it wont go past 2500 (more like 1000) you & others will wait until Listia post one and then jump on it and bid higher for it, that's the way it works.
If I saw more interest in getting the set I would not hesitate on accepting a lower amount even if I have to open it and just send the Blu-Ray disc but there's not because if there were it would be more questions about accepting less just as your asking.

In my opinion..Listia makes this site sound "free" but in all actuality it is NOT! After reading what you have explained I do fully understand what you are saying. The credits Listia makes from their "Rewards" auctions, etc..they don't use their credits to get things for themselves, therefore credits don't get re-circulated back into the "Members Credit Pool"..I honestly think they do that so that members will start PAYING for credits so they make more money which can be okay but to a certain point. Seeing a lot of items go for A LOT more than so many thousands of credits, purchasing 1,200 credits for $40 is NOT worth it! I collect Blu-Rays and DVDs BUT there is a major credit change in what each ends at..a DVD may end at 700-1,500 depending on its popularity and if its a new release or not...a Blu-Ray will more likely go (if its popularity is high or it is a popular new release) for 2,000-6,000 DEPENDING..Sooooo instead of purchasing 1,200 credits to win a DVD or Blu-Ray..it is not worth it..you might as well go out and purchase it yourself. I hope this helps everybody a little bit. I think that Listia should have contests where winners win certain amounts of credits, not a lot of credits, but at least an amount so that we can get them back because I understand they have to profit from this site but also advertising that we can win/give away stuff we don't want for things that we do want for FREE..kind of contradicting I think..Well everybody have a FABULOUS DAY!!! Good luck with your auction hun =) I'd say the credit tiers you have are worth it for the 3D =D *Hugs and have a FABULOUS NIGHT!!!* =D =D =D

I think I explained it above, but let me try again. You say 6000 is OK but it went for over 10000 on both auctions listia posted of the DVD and WAAAAAAAAAY under 6000 for 3 members (mine included) auctions I have seen for the same DVD. I do believe if listia list this it would go WAAAAAAAAAY past 35500 and that is what bothers me as a member. So why would I not want at least close to the amount of credits that I'm sure listia would get.
My point to this is to get members to respect and bid on other members listing just as they do listia's because at the very least the credits remain in play to bid on other items and in turn end up back to you one way or the other, but giving it away to listia take the credits out the community in turn making less credits available to make nice bids on other members auctions including yours.
Yes I agree that 35500 is VERY high. I picked that amount based on the auctions (not just this DVD) I have seen posted by Listia VS. Member (same items) and there seem to be a BIG gap in what a member would get VS listia (35% or more).
Jan 10th, 2011 at 4:17:49 PM PST by
Original
I see ofter members questioning a member for the amount of credits they want for a item but I have never seen anyone ask why do people bid so high on listia's auctions and there maybe the same item posted at the same time that's just waiting to get hit with bids but they don't and that still leaves the question of "WHY?"
If I see that people are willing to bid high on this I would not have a problem letting it go for less then what I have posted, but I think we all know and have seen Blu-Ray go tor twice as much as a DVD
Listia's winning bids on there DVD
10449 X 2 = 20898
12550 X 2 = 25100
The set I have up for grabs has them both along with 3-D and extras
So it's not to far fetched to see it go high. If bidders don't feel they should bid high on another members list and keep the the credits alive then move on from this list and wait for listia to post it and give away your credits to them.

Thanks for stopping by

I would say the dvd will go for around 6000 and the blu ray combo should be no more than maybe twice that maybe a little more. 35500 is way too much. I am confused as to what you are trying to do.

Jan 8th, 2011 at 12:25:21 PM PST by

I really had know intention of making this a upgrade auction until I saw the BIG difference between listia's auction of the same DVD and others (mine included). Listia's both went over 12000 but none of the community members auctions went close to that and that is confusing to me because bidding on listia over a members auction (for the same item) take the credits out of the community pool that would/may get right back around to you and others but the credits given to listia will not. So to cover myself from giving something away for less credits that I know listia would get for the same item (they still probably would get more then my set amount) this will be a bid for it listing.
So if you really want it bid the same way you would if listia had posted it.
