We bought this for our granddaughter several years ago...she never played with it. she wasnt into this type of item so it has been sitting in my closet.
it only needs batteries. does not have box but does have instruction book. works great. if i remember right we paid $40 for it brand new. this is a toy..
great gift. for ages 5-8.

It takes 4 AA batteries. I just threw out the batteries that were in there for
years. If they remember to turn it off or close the lid the batteries last a long time..thanks for asking

hello, no the batteries weren't left in it. I took the batteries out when I put it up in the closet...Before I send it to anyone I will put batteries in it to make sure everything is working. I am out of town right now, due home this afternoon....The toy is like new..
