Description

The listing, Vintage Tourism 35mm Slides has ended.

There was once a time... before CD's and digital photography... when memories of family vacations were chronicled on full color slides! Upon returning from your trip, you would become the envy of your neighborhood as you setup a screen, your Kodak slide projector, the fondue pot, and a couple cases of iced Lowenbrau and regaled your friends and family with detailed descriptions of your trip in vivid Kodachrome!

Alas, those days are long gone... fondue has seen a bit of a resurgence, but beyond that, all of our nostalgic past is long gone. Fortunately, you can relive a piece of this long lost Americana with a set of your very own Mount Vernon slide set.

Slides like these were available at many museums, state and national parks, and other notable attractions. They were a way for the photographically challenged among us to host professional looking shows without the guess work. This offered set is a prime example of those slides of yore.

Mount Vernon, home to George and Martha Washington, is a beautiful example of Palladian style of plantation architecture. Owned and operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, thus beloved landmark is a popular destination for visitors of the Washington D. C. area.

The slides offered in this auction are in pristine condition, still wrapped and priced ($2.00) as they were when new. The scenes included are 'West Front from The Bowling Green Gate,' 'The Palladian Window, North end of Mansion,' 'The Potomac River From South Colonnade,' 'East Front from North Lawn,' and 'Sarcophagus at Tomb of General Washington.' Gripping titles that are a must for every collector, and a definite show stopper for your next family / neighborhood slide show night!

The winning Listiaite will receive one, unopened set of vintage slides in a protected envelope, delivered to the address of your choice. Treat them well, display them with pride, and good luck!

I had forgotten about these slides until I ran across these... then the memories came flooding back. School field trips, family vacations, taking friends to all the attractions around D. C... Oh how I miss those times!
