Description : Legendary Heart' is sure to become one of our best new hibiscus varieties. It blooms with giant 8-10" solid red, single, well formed flowers. The mother, classic hibiscus 'Living Legend,' gives 'Legendary Heart' its large flower and beautiful form. The father, 'Young at Heart,' gives it the vigorous genes and strong, fast-growing, upright bush of its own mother, classic garden variety hibiscus, 'President.' 'Legendary Heart' is one of the new HVH hybrids that mix the best of exotic genes with the best of garden variety genes in order to produce new exotic hibiscus with the vigor and ease of growing that garden variety hibiscus have always had. Three generations of hybridization has now produced 'Legendary Heart,' a beautiful, new exotic that has the best of both worlds. Released from HVH in 2011.

*** Hibiscus is an easy plant to start from seed, providing seeds are mature and fresh. Pods turn brown and begin to break open when fully ripe. Seeds are covered with fuzzy chaff.

You will receive five seed pods, picked on the day of end of the auction. GIN will get double the amount.

I'm in zone 9 and get frost, is this a hardy hibiscus? Or a tropical?

Well, I'm in zone 7 North Alabama and it's not even in the ground, I bought it last year as it was the newest on the market, I thought I would have already be moving that's why I did not plant it, it came back this year with more buds than could even bloom before the 1st frost. Now it's gone no leaves, just long sticks. Next year I suspect it will be huge,because this year it put out so many stems with blooms. Unfortunately, I think it would die in winter and come back in early sping even in zone 5. But I'm not sure, I can only testify as to what I have seen them both do beside my garage in pots.
